Is There Something Else To Use Instead Of Adobe Flash To Get Xfinity To Stream For Mac?
Update Adobe Flash player, Java, and make sure to try reinstalling/updating your graphics drivers. Also, in I.E. You can set advanced properties to use software decoding instead of hardware.
I read in this forum, about six months ago, about stream rippers for radio stations in Winamp and elsewhere. I didn't know anything about them until then. Since Winamp radio stations are up and down, I thought it a great idea if I could save the streams on my hard drive for times when the station was not up or I was off line. So, I downloaded Stream Ripper and proceeded to rip from mostly my very favorite station. I did this off and on when I would think about it so I don't have that much ripped. About two months ago, I tried to access my favorite Winamp radio station and couldn't.

This continued to happen. I could access the station though through the Spinamp plugin for Winamp so I didn't pursue what was wrong right away. Spinamp stations though have mediocre sound quality so I finally decided to ask in the Winamp forum why I can't get this station through Winamp any longer. I first thought the problem was the version of Winamp I have but I upgraded to the latest and still can't play my favorite station on either of my computers. Well, it turns out, to my utter surprise and consternation, that evidently the station has BANNED MY IP FOR USING A STREAM RIPPER. No one warned me in the thread I read here about Stream Ripper plugin for Winamp that this is quasi-legal and that I would get banned possibly forever! I would never have downloaded and used Stream Ripper if I had known this would happen.
From what I have learned now at the Winamp forums, I can uninstall the ripper software and then plead with the station to reinstate my IP. They may or may not grant my wish. Imrf, getting a new IP address is not that easy. I will get one this fall when I am gone for three weeks but, otherwise, these days IP address changes rarely.not like a few years ago. Trying to force a change doesn't work. Outsourced, that was a very interesting read.
I updated my flash player to 10.3 when I went on adobe site but i still cant play itand when I searched on adobe.com for Flash Player 10.3.181.16 i couldnt find anything but an article that said it was releasedand then i found a page saying that there was a problem with Flash player and IE9 and that I needed to download 10.3.181.15 but. If, on the other hand, you lose your phone, you can use your X1 Voice Remote to help find it — at least, if you happen to be an Xfinity Mobile customer. Simply saying “Xfinity Mobile, find my. Skype.
I still don't quite understand why this is illegal. I fully understand why P2P is considered illegal and I happen to agree with that position. So, it is ironic if this really is illegal that I have been doing it! This station I like is not giving me CD quality music and I don't even own a portable player and my car has a tape deck. So, it never entered my mind that some might be burning these ripped streams. I just wanted it on my hard drive so when the station was down I could play the music from my hard drive. Lanik, I don't quite see where the UID is to change it.
I just did a quick look at the Stream Ripper forum. Never been there before. I don't see anything about this.
Guess I can ask there. Howie123, according to that link from Outsourced, the station owners are really pissed about this and they all ban rippers if they catch them. They claim rippers use too much bandwidth in addition to making life harder for them legality wise. Stream Ripper has a way to play Winamp through Stream Ripper when ripping so supposedly you aren't using extra bandwidth. I hadn't been doing that as I didn't realize I was using that much more bandwidth. I just downloaded Stream Ripper and there was no help file for it.
Now there is a tutorial and forum. I just sort of blindly used it.
As for Audacity, I have heard of that but don't have it. I don't know what 'what-U-Hear' feature is. I'm pretty dumb about this stuff. Said by: I record streams to audio cassette for my wife all the time. How are they going to know? When I asked earlier today at Winamp forums why I was getting a forbidden error when trying to play my favorite Shoutcast station, a Mod came along and was nice but it was quite clear that ripping is considered wrong. He pointed me to another thread from about a year and one-half ago when a user posted asking the same question.
